Sunday morning {and give-away too}

Standard

We have a house guest this weekend. Her name is Honey and she’s my mom’s dog. Ordinarily I tolerate her (she’s big on barking and generally being annoying), but I’m not a big fan – that’s unusual since I’m a major lover of dogs. Yesterday my girls were sooooo convincing that we should keep her over for the weekend when grandma went home ‘just to see’ how having a little dog would be. They’re in heaven, and Honey is being good – she mostly sleeps (protected by baby gate) in my studio. The interesting thing is once my mom left she became this obedient, sweet, SILENT, loveable dog. We’re cool – and she makes a lovely creative companion. It’s nice having a well behaved dog in the house!!

I am working on a (hybrid) scrapbook page and was totally frustrated that I couldn’t get something going last night. Then this morning I woke up, had “I KNOW!” moment, and now am hand cutting a 4 x 12 strip of damask pattern with my trusted Fiskars craft knife (give away coming later!)

s1

The key to hand cutting success is just a little at a time. Keep walking away and you won’t get bored or sore. Still- I can’t wait to finish it so I can put it together.

That’d be bits of the Scarlet Lime September kit I’m working with this weekend. (sigh) I may set up a fall fashion photo shoot for the girls so I can hurry up and use this little card. It’s sooooo cute. Speaking of cute, I have decided to give this away.

This Heidi Grace jar traveled everywhere with me as a founding fisk-a-teer for 2 years. It went up on my shelf and has stayed ever since. I’m thinking it needs a new home! In the bottom are ‘vintage’ (circa 2006) Heidi Grace ribbons and then I’ve piled in all kinds of cute stuff – buttons, brads, sequins, clips, chipboard, felt… lots of cute! If you’d like to give this cutie patootie jar a home just leave a comment here!

So, do you think that you might get a small dog of your own now?

  3. Enjoy the doggy companion! Also, handcutting damask?! Are you nuts?! 😉 I’d totally do it if my computer/digi skills were worth anything…reminds me that I need to get your book!

  4. hmmm the jar is to cute and the trinkets inside look cute too. Thanks for the chance . The dog is cute . I wish my dog didnt bark but thats her favorite past time. to bark and bark and bark and so on

  5. I would certainly give this cute little guy a great home, but if I don’t win…I’m SO gunna scraplift that label and create a jar of inspiration for myself!

  6. Cute is… always good! I love cute! Which is probably why I love Heidi Grace products so much- most of it is cuteness itself! lol- thanks for this chance to win.

We haven’t had a dog in our house for years…it’s come up now and then, but…still a no go. Which is too bad, cuz they CAN be awesome companions.

  7. Cutting out Damask! Wow what inspiration is that! And the dog, well, just adorable. Hug!

  8. We have a house guest as well !! We are watching my brother’s dog, Cody, while he is on Cape Cod ! Cody is a 12 year old Miniature Pincher !! Our dog, Riley (choco lab) and Cody are getting along SOOOO nicely !! Every once in awhile, Cody peaks in my scrap room to see what the heck I am doing !! LOVE your patiently cut damask !!!

  9. awwww gotta love when you get to dogsit 😉 so cute…oh so is honey lol. would love to give that cute stuff jar a new home ….imagine the travel miles it would get coming to new zealand hehehehe thanks for the chance to win:)

  10. I think my DD must be just like Honey when other people watch her. Everyone says how quiet and well-behaved she is when we are gone. The second we return, she finds some reason to start fake crying!

  11. That’s a whole lotta “cute” you’ve got going on in your studio this weekend. The bits and pieces look even more interesting in the cute jar, next to a cute dog, next to the cute damask cutout…wow!

  12. Oh Honey looks right at home, we have a massive dog – a long coated German Sheppard who weighs in between 45-50 kgs (90-100pounds) and a little dog has its appeal some times – like having a picnic and the dog wants to sit on your lap (insert mental picture here).

I can’t wait to see what you are going to do with all that hand cutting – looks interesting.

I would love to give your little jar of cuteness a new home – I promise to love and cherish it.

  13. What a cute idea..that jar ! Pretty and useful!

Good for you for patiently cutting out the parts you needed!

  14. just like kids, huh, they’re usually better when mom isn’t around. Very cute dog.
that’s a lot of cutting, have fun on that one. 🙂
Can’t beleive you’re letting go of such a great jar of goodies, especially since you’ve had them for so long. I’m happy to make a place for them with myother pretty jars of ribbon and buttons. They’ll feel right at home. 🙂

  15. What a cute little jar of goodies! I like little things compared to big pieces most of the time on my scrap pages. What a cute little dog-we have a big one for the farm & not near as cuddly! She also is regulated to outside only :).

  16. This jar is so sweet and inocent looking . . . I think it could use a new home by my other little jars.

  17. The jar is so sweet!
I am glad to hear that Honey is not upset being away from home… my bulldog is getting sad he see’s his favorite family member getting ready for a trip without him 😦

  18. I couldn’t decide, after reading about Honey and seeing her photo, if you have a bed in your studio or you create in your bedroom! I know, I know – it’s just that after reading she mostly slept in your studio I expected to see a photo of Honey there, LOL.
I’m betting that hand-cut damask page takes you more than an hour – looks like the kind of labour intensive technique I’d decide to do. Can’t wait to see the finished layout!

  19. oh May, this is a darling fun little giveaway! and I’m actually checking out your blog for the first time because I loved your recent BPS recipe class so much! Can’t wait for the next one!

  20. Ok.. reading your first comment.. when were you in St. Paul?? Oh, it would be fun to meet you. Let me know if you are ever back this way!

Your mom’s dog looks so sweet!! I have two pooches, myself. One is yappy, the other – total opposite!

It would be fun to have your little jar of trinkets! Looks like some fun goodies in there!!
