sister pics

Standard

One evening while my sister was here we put on full make up and did a quick photo shoot. I always try to either have a (distant) background, or if it’s close make sure it’s neutral and won’t take away from the headshot style pic.

It was fun taking pictures of an adult subject for a change, and especially one who doesn’t pose like this…

Don’t get me wrong- I love Jason’s goofy photo poses. (but) it’s nice to have somebody who wants pretty pics. I decided to de-saturate and add a decorative border/frame on this one…

Love it! Man I do love photoshop elements. Right now though, as I sit and talk pictures I think about 2 things.

1. I need to start learning more about my camera. It’s smarter than me by a long shot, and I need to figure that bad boy out. It has a DVD to watch, and a manual to read. Guess I’d better stop procrastinating!

2. I need to give away a copy of paper + pixels!!! Whenever I do fun photo editing like on my sister’s photo above I think about how much I learned writing that book, and how much I love the book!

So… I’ve got a copy to share. Want to get into a little hybrid scrapbooking? This book is so for you! Just leave a comment here. 🙂

  1. May – you are not alone in the learning the camera thing. I too have to take some time out for this task. I love the what you did with your sister’s photo. I understand on the goofy pose of the hubby. Mine does the samething. I guess to tell the truth I love it too! I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

I need to learn more about hybrid scrapbooking. I know some…

    Have a great day!

  2. I love the changes to your sisters photo! And your hubbys pose, well it’s plain funny yet i love cameras to capture those very moments we should never forget 🙂 Happy scrappin and happy almost Friday!

  3. OMG you read my mind! I’m currently wading through my camera manual and TWO Photoshop books. I’ve been coveting the LOs done on Polka Dot Potato and Prima Hybrid, but I haven’t got a clue on how to start. I would love your book of tips!

Hee. Love your photo subjects. I love to look at pics of family hammin’ it up for the camera. It makes me smile. Your sister looks so sweet in her photos. Good job!

  4. I want a copy! I’ve taken a peek on Amazon and it looks great! I’ve been meaning to purchase Photoshop Elements and plan to as soon as the new edition is released. Thank goodness they give teachers a good discount.

  7. Well do NOT include me on your RAK because I am already the PROUD owner of your book – I bought it! I am still very challenged when it comes to using my Photoshop program – so very much to learn still. And my camera is not nearly as smart (or fancy) as yours – but I am still learning more about what bells and whistles I do have – my daughter just showed me how to swith to B & W mode on it a couple of days ago – I can be so lame!! Love your pics!!

Becky – from the Big Wig Bash

PS I think I have about 8 million goofy pics of my husband and 2 serious ones too : )

  13. Love the photo and I am so with you on reading the camera manual. It’s on my list of things to do. And reading your book is on there too!!

  14. Your photos are great! I love my digital camera. Have you tried Picasa? its a lifesaver for organizing and cropping and adding fill light, etc. Can’t wait for their new update when they add the ability to put text on pics. All they need next is borders.

I’d love a copy of the book so I can try new things!

  15. OOH, me, me. I have Photoshop and every little thing I learn is so amazing. I’m hopeless with picture taking – thank goodness my daughter takes the photos and gives them to me to scrap!

  16. Hi May!!! Great photos. You have such a cute family! I bet your girls (and you) are having so much fun with your sister.
