my current show-

I never watched Sex & the city on HBO. Why? We don’t have HBO! Instead, after they were all available on DVD and I was pregnant and in bed I rented them. Oh, it was love at first season. One night I stayed up the ENTIRE night without realizing it because I was so busy watching (and loving) every episode.

This introduced me to the concept- and love- that I have of watching TV on dvd verses trying to keep up with all the shows and having to wait for the next episode. No need to wait for me- I got to see every last episode on my terms. I devoured it, and loved it.

Now last year I watched the Gilmore Girls, only difference is that this time I had netflix!!! Ah the joys, and the pain when netflix didn’t deliver on the exact date I wanted! But still- I loved the show and enjoyed watching at my own pace.

In case you’re wondering why I’m writing about shows I have watched, it’s because I’ve now got a new show. Alias. Oh I really like Sydney. I like the whole girl spy scene. Ever since Nancy Drew. I had been thinking that I was in need of a good girl spy/bad ass in my life. I’ve read Olivia Joules too many times to count, and there aren’t any movies that I’m crazy about… so I thought I’d try out Alias. No it’s not realistic and my husband would HATE it. That’s a good thing. It’s enjoyable for me though- and that’s all I care about when it comes to TV in my DVD player.

problem? Season 2 disk 2 didn’t arrive today. That means there is no Sydney to stay up late and scrap the night away with me.

{insert mini-pity-party and pout here}

Now what am I going to watch? One of the things I love about the Alias DVD’s is that it’s a 4-episode block. Changing the DVD every 3 1/2hrs, not every 1 1/2 like a movie!!! I just don’t know what I’ll do now. In case you haven’t figured out what I’m saying here… I *MUST* have TV/movie on to listen to while I create. If I am not insprired to watch something, then I’m unable to start creating.

freaky, no?

wish me luck…

  1. i’ve been thinking lately that i would probably get a lot more scrapping done if i had a tv in my studio… that way i wouldn’t have to choose between jon & kate plus 8 or scrapping. [right now jon & kate plus 8 is kicking scrapping's ass... it wins every time it's on. ha.]

good luck tonight! i’m hoping that if i make a valiant effort to clean off my desk maybe i’ll be inspired. :]

  2. Good Luck! We don’t have HBO either…and I love Sex in the City…started watching it on TV at 1 AM when I couldn’t sleep…and easy addiction! Now, of course, we have some fancy cable (but still no HBO) but I find myself addicted to HGTV and well, crafting while watching home shows doesn’t seem to work for me…cause then I decide OhHhHh I can do that to the house and get side tracked ;) Well, I am off to attempt to finish formatting the Oh Scrap Newsletter! :) Hope your evening is productive!

  3. Oh I loved Alias, they used to show it at around 11.00pm here so I used to tape it and watch it on the weekends, but I agree watching a whole series on DVD would be so much better.
I think I need a TV in my scraproom, rather than pulling all the stuff out to the dining room - it would save so much time.

  4. I’m doing the same thing, but on my laptop while I create. Since there’s nothing good on tv this summer, I’ve claimed it to be the summer of forgotten tv shows. I’m finishing up a couple of movies on my netflix queue then starting with my first, unowned tv show of the summer. Woo hoo!

  5. I have never seen Sex in the City but I did love Alias! I want to buy the Friends DVD’s (all 10 years worth!).

Crossing my fingers they come today!

  6. May,
Here are a few suggestions for when you finish Alias.
    Spy type:
    - Veronica Mars
    - MI5

    SciFi/Western:
    - Firefly

    Historical:
    - Robin Hood (BBC)
    - The Tudors

    Enjoy scrappin.

  7. I’m a huge Sex & the City fan. I watch the reruns even though they’re not the same when broken up by commercials and editted for tv. Can you believe I haven’t seen the movie yet?

I always have a movie on when crafting at home. It has to be one that I’ve seen before or is not too engrossing. Chick flicks like 13 going on 30, dirty dancing, titanic, Moulan Rouge, The Holiday, etc. are perfect. You know what else is good to have on? A Saturday marathon like Project Runway.

  8. I’m just about to start Sex in the City my friend loaned my the entire season, after i fell in love with Lipstick Jungle, which by the way i can’t wait for it to come back.. - Then hopefully by the time i see my friend again in Oct, we can watch the Sex in the City movie - me for the 1st time, her for the 12th time LOL - By then i bet it will be like the 100th time! She’s a fan :)

I however miss Gilmore Girls soo much, that show was a very intelligent but sooo much fun, i still watch all the old episodes i love those girls! We miss you ladies!

I also recommend Veronica Mars, it was a slow starting show, but keeps you going right up until the end.. Unsure why the WB canceled the show, :( they are lame..

  9. I have not seen sex in the city but Alias is very good . . . I wish you were closer we have it on DVD!

  10. I feel your pain. For me it is Survivor right now. I was expecting my DVD Saturday, but it’s not coming until today. ((sigh)) I have taken to bringing the laptop into the scraproom and watching Nancy Drew ad the Hardy Boys episodes right on teh Netflix site…

  11. You are definitely on the right track. I also LOVE Alias and have all the seasons on DVD-I would loan them if we lived closer ;) I also am a Netflix subscriber and I LOVE it. Our distribution center is like 90 mins away so I’m spoiled-I usually get the DVD’s quick… Not sure what I can suggest as a replacement-but why not watch one of your favorites that you have but haven’t seen in a while. Hope it works!!

  12. LOL. You and I are more alike than I could have dreamed! I have to have TV on DVD to scrap…this week it’s old X-Files. :) I like that my husband will watch them with my while I craft.

  13. I also have to watch tv when I scrap. DS gave me a DVD player for my studio for Christmas last year so I could watch my Sex & the City DVD’s (yes, I got the entire 6 seasons on DVD). I also enjoy watching The Nanny and am trying to find it on DVD too. (I have season 2). I usually have my ’scraproom line up to watch so fortunately I’m ok. lol

  14. For me it is music and I frequently find myself revisiting old favorites while I scrap. I have a 16 yr old daughter and I love it when she comes in and says “who sings that mom? - I heard it on a TV show and like it” -Ha Ha - my old taste in music isn’t all that bad and it is great to bridge the generational gap between us.
